Introduction
I am an experienced teacher and counsellor. My passion for teaching led me to undertake a doctorate investigating the wellbeing of New Zealand teachers.

My Research
My doctoral research investigated the wellbeing of New Zealand primary and secondary teachers.

I am a school counsellor and, until two years ago, was also in the classroom. I am passionate about education—teaching is an incredible career. It is also demanding and rewarding, exasperating and exhilarating, infuriating and illuminating. With over 30 years in the profession, I bring experience from both the primary and secondary sectors into my work.
My research, New Zealand Teachers’ Perceptions of and Insights into their Wellbeing, informs my approach when I speak with teachers at conferences, present workshops, or meet with educators individually. I draw on my lived experience and grounded knowledge to share what it is really like to work in New Zealand classrooms today.
